Are Tattoos Haram in Islam ? if not , which symbols are haram ? I know hurting the body on purpose is Haram , but if tattoo doesn’t hurt the body , is it still Haram , can u please clear all that for me.

Praise be to Allaah.
Tattooing, in which the skin is pierced with a needle and a blue or other coloured dye is injected, is haraam in all forms, whether it causes pain or not, because it involves changing the creation of Allaah, and because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed the one who does tattoos and the one for whom that is done. In al-Saheehayn it is narrated that Abd-Allaah ibn Masood (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: May Allaah curse the women who do tattoos and those for whom tattoos are done, those who pluck their eyebrows and those who file their teeth for the purpose of beautification and alter the creation of Allaah. (al-Bukhaari, al-Libaas, 5587; Muslim, al-Libaas, 5538).
With regard to all these matters, the ahaadeeth testify that the one who does them is cursed and that they are major sins. There is some difference of scholarly opinion as to the reason why they are forbidden. It was said that it is because they are a form of deception, and it was said that it is because it is a way of changing the creation of Allaah, as Ibn Masood said which is more correct and also includes the first meaning. And it was suggested that what is forbidden is only that which is permanent, because that is changing the creation of Allaah; as for that which is not permanent, such as kohl which used for adornment by women, that is permitted by the scholars. (Tafseer al-Qurtubi, 5/393).
So if what is referred to in the question is that which is not permanent, then it is not a tattoo as such and does not change the creation of Allaah. See question no. 8904.

I plan on getting them tattooed across my hip so please, no mistakes!
I want the traditional symbols, not the ‘numbered’ symbols please.
I haven’t a clue what you mean by ‘numbered’ symbols, but here are the Japanese/Chinese characters. The first are the kanji (Japanese/Chinese) characters and the last are the hiragana (Japanese basic) characters. Take your pick ^^
Learn – 学 or 勉強; がく or べんきょう
Love – 愛 or 恋; あい or こい
Live – 生きる; いきる (This can’t just be "生" on it’s own, because it’ll mean raw or born)

If the design is something that has meaning to you and your friend then it shouldn’t matter if anyone likes it but you. After all, it is you that will be seeing it everyday for the rest of your life. You should try not to care what else anyone thinks about your design and just do it for you. =)

I have 2 tattoos. a tribal from shoulder to elbow on right arm. and my last name on my back rite below my neck but is bout 2 or 3 inchs under my shirt(just for visual lol)
ok would it look rite and not be to much if I got 3 or 4 more?
1. drawled out my own tattoo snake/tribal half snake and then shifts into a kool tribal design when it starts down to tail. I want this on my right rib cage kinda like bam margara(watch via labam if u dnt kno). plus my cancer sign and chinese symbol of snake for the yr of snake when my bday is tht will be soild red no outline
2. a lock but its guna be all old lookin and a weird skeleton design but not look like one. my girl is guna have the key it will be half metal and when it get close to the key part to stick in it will be bone lookin. kool ain’t it lol. well idk where to get this tell me where u think it would be good at.
3.praying hands from shoulder half way down from elbow(meanin bout 4 to 5 inch gap) and my dads name and when he was born and died
4. 3 stars on each side kinda slanted goin down towards my southern region if kinda kno what tht is so like if I have pants on and no shirt u see the stars at my waist going down kinda on the V cut lol

Ive been thinking about this for a while and its mixed, some people say i should do what i want and others are like ‘no! dont ruin your skin’ Im only 15 so not even legal for one yet :’(, but plently more time to think about it. I’m thinking of getting a Bunny, Because thats my nickname, and i like bunnies. My other choices – Dove Fairy Pixie Rose i only want small ones also… oh well my bunny means allot. There always runnin about carefree and that how i want to be carfree of what others think.
