Vickings from sweeden during the 1600’s wore symbols to gard them from evil
The Eye of Horus from Egyptian mythology is a symbol known to ward off evil, as is the scarab (symbol of the rising sun).
As for vikings, here are some rune symbols with different meanings, most are luck and good fortune charms to ward off evil (in jewelry form, but I couldn’t find any other pictures easily):

cause that’s all ive see them on and im thinking about getting one but i want it on the left cause im left handed
so is that ok or do crosses have to be on the right?
it can be wherever you want it to be– it’s your tattoo and your body.
the right side is probably more common, so i would say be unique and do it on the left!
Hey guys! This was requested by Chastity, aka pdbncbb, and I thought it was such an awesome idea! Thanks for the request sweetie!
Here is the link to her channel:

I pretty much based it off of tattoo flash art. I am totally in love with tattoos, even though I do not have any lol. But I wanted to do a more modern koi as opposed to the more traditional Japanese style. I’ve also included some drawings from my “I wanna be a tattoo artist phase.” Hope you guys enjoy and thanks for watching, commenting and rating!

I am looking to get a tat with either a butterfly or a nice flower, with the word maganda (=beautiful in filipino, i am part filipino)
i need help with either pictures of nice butterflies about the size of my fist, on my upper back, or for someone to pleaaaase help me pick a certain FLOWER that HAS A MEANING to it.
is there a flower that means good blessings, or life or something really nice?
the meaning of the tattoo to me will basically remind me of INNER beauty of myself, and that i am free, and very blessed, and to cherish life.
PLEASE HELP finding certain meanings, or flowers or pics, i greatly appreciate any NEW IDEAS as well..
THANK YOU!
This is the sampaguita which is the national flower of the Philippines:

That sort of image may even look nice with a little buttefly perched on one of the petals or leaves.
Here is a list of meanings of flowers for you to look through:
http://www.imag-e-nation.com/flower_meanings.htm
I picked out these:
The Bachelor’s Button, which means Single Blessedness:

And here is that flower in the form of a mandala:

Or white heather, which means protection and wishes will come true:
http://www.celtichighroads.com/images/noveltiesfromscotlandz/617.jpg – that is pictured with some purple thistle (otherwise it might make quite a plain tattoo) – couldn’t find a meaning for purple thistle but it’s aesthetically pleasing, I found these myths behind thistle in general:
"Myth – Thistle
The thistle, (eryngium) is a commonly used cut flower in the floral industry. It is added as a filler flower in arrangements, usually with a "woodsy" or "fall" theme. The thistle has some intesting myths attached to it however, that make it an interesting bloom to use in many applications.
Myths
Aphrodite presented Phaon with a thistle, this is seen as her way of ensnaring him on the prickles
In fairy tales, the thistle often symbolizeds an enduring love, that will last in spite of pain and suffering
Scottish heraldry proclaims that an invading Viking trod upon a thistle, and alerted the Scots to his presence. The Order of the Thistle motto – nemo me impune lacessit roughly translates to "no one attacks me and gets away with it""
You can look down the list of flowers to see if there are any others you like and google images of them.
Here are some nice images of butterflies which you can browse through. You can narrow the results further to a specific type of drawing on the left hand menu if you wish:

You asked for other ideas… the national bird for the Philippines is the Philippine Eagle:
http://www.deviantart.com/#catpath=traditional/drawings&order=9&q=butterfly
And the national animal is the caribou:

The national tree is the narra tree:

National ‘inanimate objects’ for the Philippines are the eight rayed sun, and three stars (I couldn’t find any great images of these but I’m sure you could have them designed.)
And the patron saints of the Philippines are these:
Mary, the Immaculate Conception, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Saint Lorenzo Ruiz, Blessed Perdo Calunsod
Good luck!
I am looking to get two tattoos of the chinese symbols for patience and blessed but I am getting conflicting information as to how to find accurate symbols for these words. Any suggestions?
patience (noun) = 耐性 = nai-xing-44
blessed (adjective) = 祝福的 = zhu-fu-de-420
What is your opinion on tribal tattoos? If you saw a Native American with several large traditional Native American tattoos on their body, what would you think (ie would you think it weird, cool, ect)? What do you think of people who get tribal tattoos that have actually nothing to do with their heritage (ie do you think of it as "posing", okay, cool, you don’t care, ect)? Would you think of something with the tattoos be unprofessional or wild? Please post thoughts. Thanks.
I think that would be very cool. Many people have tattoos that reflect different ethnic backgrounds (tribals, Chinese letters, sanskrtit, etc.). Just make sure the design is meaningful to YOU, not just doing to follow a trend or to impress someone else.
I need help searching for some really nice tattoo artists. I’m not interested in getting a tattoo done however, I am interested in seeing their art and styles. Please help me out.
These are some that I found:
Ami James(miami ink)
Kat Von D(miami ink)
Bob Tyrell(UK)
Mr Booth(UK)
Rui de Janeiro(Brazil)
Ami James
Eric Pele
Mario Barth
Lyle Tuttle
Jeremy Garrett(NYC)
Inkednation.com(lets you view tattoists portfolios)
Hope I helped! (plz pick me 4 BA)

What is the difference between old school and new school tattoos. I have seen many pictures of both kinds and the look relatively the same. Please don’t say ones old and ones new. Thanks!
Didn’t I say not to tell me ones old and ones new? Stop answering questions you don’t know the answer to just to get points…
Old school and new school tattoos are very similar in design, so you’re not alone in being unsure about exactly makes one old vs. new. Both use bold outlines and bright color. Old school had more defined rules to follow. The meaning and symbolism was a little more set, and it tended to revolve around flash that hung on the shop walls. A sparrow was a sparrow, pretty much wherever you went.
The best explanation I can come up with for new school is to take those old school concepts and add a graffiti flair. More options in ink and colors plus better equipment allow for effects that weren’t possible. So a new school design of that sparrow will still use bold outlines and color, but will have a new twist. Does that make any sense?
