I am looking to get a tat with either a butterfly or a nice flower, with the word maganda (=beautiful in filipino, i am part filipino)
i need help with either pictures of nice butterflies about the size of my fist, on my upper back, or for someone to pleaaaase help me pick a certain FLOWER that HAS A MEANING to it.
is there a flower that means good blessings, or life or something really nice?
the meaning of the tattoo to me will basically remind me of INNER beauty of myself, and that i am free, and very blessed, and to cherish life.
PLEASE HELP finding certain meanings, or flowers or pics, i greatly appreciate any NEW IDEAS as well..
THANK YOU!
This is the sampaguita which is the national flower of the Philippines:

That sort of image may even look nice with a little buttefly perched on one of the petals or leaves.
Here is a list of meanings of flowers for you to look through:

I picked out these:
The Bachelor’s Button, which means Single Blessedness:

And here is that flower in the form of a mandala:

Or white heather, which means protection and wishes will come true:
http://www.celtichighroads.com/images/noveltiesfromscotlandz/617.jpg – that is pictured with some purple thistle (otherwise it might make quite a plain tattoo) – couldn’t find a meaning for purple thistle but it’s aesthetically pleasing, I found these myths behind thistle in general:
"Myth – Thistle
The thistle, (eryngium) is a commonly used cut flower in the floral industry. It is added as a filler flower in arrangements, usually with a "woodsy" or "fall" theme. The thistle has some intesting myths attached to it however, that make it an interesting bloom to use in many applications.
Myths
Aphrodite presented Phaon with a thistle, this is seen as her way of ensnaring him on the prickles
In fairy tales, the thistle often symbolizeds an enduring love, that will last in spite of pain and suffering
Scottish heraldry proclaims that an invading Viking trod upon a thistle, and alerted the Scots to his presence. The Order of the Thistle motto – nemo me impune lacessit roughly translates to "no one attacks me and gets away with it""
You can look down the list of flowers to see if there are any others you like and google images of them.
Here are some nice images of butterflies which you can browse through. You can narrow the results further to a specific type of drawing on the left hand menu if you wish:

You asked for other ideas… the national bird for the Philippines is the Philippine Eagle:

And the national animal is the caribou:

The national tree is the narra tree:

National ‘inanimate objects’ for the Philippines are the eight rayed sun, and three stars (I couldn’t find any great images of these but I’m sure you could have them designed.)
And the patron saints of the Philippines are these:
Mary, the Immaculate Conception, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Saint Lorenzo Ruiz, Blessed Perdo Calunsod
Good luck!
