The reason for that questions is to see if my tattoos really mean what they said it would mean. I’ve looked for the symbols but can’t seem to find anything. I would be very grateful to find some answers here.

Pure in Chinese can be one of these 3: 纯净 純淨

Pure in japanese is: 純粋

Promise in Chinese can be one of these two: 诺言 諾言
Promise in Japanese: 約束

I would rather not have Chinese or Japanese symbols.

my grandma is Japanese, and she recently passed away….she was my strength, as well as a beautiful person. I got a koi tattooed on my ankle, to represent the strength and beauty. In japanese culture, a koi is said to represent strength and courage…due to their constant struggles

I plan on getting them tattooed across my hip so please, no mistakes!

I want the traditional symbols, not the ‘numbered’ symbols please.

I haven’t a clue what you mean by ‘numbered’ symbols, but here are the Japanese/Chinese characters. The first are the kanji (Japanese/Chinese) characters and the last are the hiragana (Japanese basic) characters. Take your pick ^^
Learn – 学 or 勉強; がく or べんきょう
Love – 愛 or 恋; あい or こい
Live – 生きる; いきる (This can’t just be "生" on it’s own, because it’ll mean raw or born)

Im thinkin about getting a tattoo, but i only 1 symbol (everywhere i translate it, it gives me 2 or 3 symbols)

Well, if you only want one character, you could use 快, which is Chinese for "fast"…however, it’s not a very detailed or impressive character to have tatooed.

As for wit, yeah, that’s also usually with two characters…

What you could do, though, is use both; two characters for speed, and two characters for wit, and with that, ask the tatoo artist to make one of those classic depictions that look like an ancient character, but are really four characters close together. You often see those used for seals on Chinese documents.

Let me see if I can find a link that will better show what I mean…

Hope that helps, or at least gives ideas…

i plan to get a tattoo, in Japanese symbols an i would like it to read the correct and be written in the correct way.

It all depends… there are two styles, 1. the same as English (left to right, top to bottom)
2. Start at the top right reading down, after the colum is done, move left.
For a tattoo, just keep it the same way as English is read, left to right….
