i’m going to be getting my first tattoo soon and i’ve decided on native american tattoos. i want it to be something about my heritage. i have native american heritage on both sides of my family, but since my mom moved away, i’ve lost a lot of contact with the choctaw side, that actually celebrated their blood. it was a big part of my life growing up, and i’m going to be leaving for college soon and wanted something to remember it by. so i’ve decided i’m going to get two feathers tied in beadwork on my shoulder, but i also want to get wording somewhere around it. I know hardly any words, beside colors and stuff and i want one with meaning. i’ve thought about getting ahyoka, like the story, since it means “bringer of happiness/joy”, and people say that fits me. but would that makes sense? since it is actually a name? if not any ideas??? thank you.
I think that ahyoka is an excellent choice. Here is something else to consider, chahta’ siahokii! Meaning “I’m Choctaw” or “I certainly am a choctaw!”

I’ve seen a few, but can’t find good enough size images of any. I’m looking for a *Vintage* pinup, not one of the new cheesy ones, for a tattoo. I’m talking Vargas, Elvgren, Runci, D’Ancona, classic type pin ups…not deviantart type stuff. Anyone have any ideas?

Arizona, reservation.

like pocahantas

i always had the idea because i love mexican & native american culture even tho im not indian at all
my mom says i should not do it because mexicans and native americans are lazy and i don’t know why she would say that cos her grandmother is indian cherokee so she is like 3/4 black 1/4 indian
so what do you guys think? do you think I would be seen as a self hater? cos I think its a hawt idea when I turn 18 and a sign of freedom :)
I love indians so much and I hade alot in my class most of my friends were mexicans
I was also at a jwerly store when I was younger and this mexican guy was talking to his white wife that owned it and whispering " look at that native american, she is so beautful. yep the one with the long hair" and i felt weird because i was the only one in there with my "black mom"

I don’t think that would be silly. It’s neat actually. Do what ever your heart desires..that’s what I would do.

my mom passed away in 99, i am going to see my big brother in a few months and i thought it would be nice for us both to get a tattoo in honor of her. im stuck on ideas though. i am thinking something Native American themed, she was half Sioux and took great pride in it. im not looking to get an indian chief or a squaw an eagle or a wolf. i was thinking of maybe a few small eagle feathers or maybe a dream catcher. also where would i put it, i like the one in this link, but i think behind my ear would look weird cuz on the back of my neck i have kanji, i think 2 different cultures right next to eachother might look odd, i dont like the way i dont want one on my arm and i dont have the body for a hip tat, and i have a tattoo with a bunch of stars on one ankle, would it look funny to get something like this on the other?
here are a couple links to some i kinda like, but havent grown on me yet.

I want to get a tattoo of my boyfriends indian symbol or name when we get married i just need to know what the symbol or name is in native american because he is part cherrokee.

Considering you want to live in ignorance thinking we all speak the same language, I will play your game!

Mark, in NATIVE AMERICAN, has two translations:

1. WHITE man with great-great grandmother who was a Cherokee Princess.
2. He who marries ignorant white woman with tattoo fetish.

What a noble name your fiance has!!! If you’d like, I can draw you the "Native American symbol" that represents either of these meanings for your tattoo! Just decide which translation you like the best. I bet I could even come up with a picture that represents both meanings together!

Desiree getting a Henna (or however you spell it) tattoo, we were drunk so don’t mind the immaturity, she really thought it was a scorpion, and a week and a half later, that.. ‘Scorpion’ is still there.
