I really want to get a tattoo of a swallow, and i want it done by someone who knows what they are doing when it comes to old-school designs. Money is a bit of an object, my budget is $150-200. Also cleanliness and professionalism are a must.

I should add that I did not draw these myself. I merely collected them from the internet to help people with Ideas. I personally to not like to shoot flash exactly as you see it. I will take the idea and evolve it into something specific for each client.

I love them, I have two old school pieces in my sleeve, it willl be all old school(ish).
To get a good example of Old School, look up a fine man named Sailor Jerry. One of my tats is based on one of his flash ideas.

Basically, I like all tattoos (well I have some problems with tribal). What I like best about traditional style tattoos is that almost all of the them have meaning. A person who was well versed in the traditional style could look at someones tattoos….their colors…..their locations and immediately tell alot about the person wearing them. Nowadays most people who wear traditional wear them because they like the way it looks and not for the hidden meanings. The reason I won’t ever get a traditional tattoo is the "flat" look that most of them have. I like a tattoo that tricks the eye ….that has a more 3 D look to it. But that’s my personal choice and thank goodness everyone doesn’t like the same style……Its the variety that makes tattoos interesting

I saw some guy with them and i thought it looked pretty cool and kinda sexy but all my friends say it looks stupid on a guy or its gay. Wat do u guys think?

What is the difference between old school and new school tattoos. I have seen many pictures of both kinds and the look relatively the same. Please don’t say ones old and ones new. Thanks!

Old school and new school tattoos are very similar in design, so you’re not alone in being unsure about exactly makes one old vs. new. Both use bold outlines and bright color. Old school had more defined rules to follow. The meaning and symbolism was a little more set, and it tended to revolve around flash that hung on the shop walls. A sparrow was a sparrow, pretty much wherever you went.

The best explanation I can come up with for new school is to take those old school concepts and add a graffiti flair. More options in ink and colors plus better equipment allow for effects that weren’t possible. So a new school design of that sparrow will still use bold outlines and color, but will have a new twist. Does that make any sense?

depends on the flash, usually its either the artist themselves or the company that produced the flash. Your best bet is to find out the artists name and do some research from that. For example some of the lyle tuttle stuff is owned by the sailor jerry museum
