I am Kiowa and Cherokee but do not associate with any tribe, I do not even know where to find one. I suppose it is what is in the heart. Eagle and Hawk feathers were used by Cheifs, Warriors, and Medicine people in our country. The general idea for warriors who cut notches in these feathers were for their Victory Dance. These Warriors would ask Great Spirit for Hawk or Eagle Feather or other Medicine Winged One associated with the opposing Warrior's Protecting or guiding Animal Spirit helper when they went to war. The winning Warrior would claim these feathers and cut a notch in it after killing the opposing Warrior with Honor. The Warrior would then carry this feather to future battles and the cycle would continue. These feathers, if not lost and the Warrior would be blessed with long life, would be passed down for generations. It does not necessarily have to be an Eagle or Hawk feather, for not every Warrior's Medicine Helper from the Sky is the same. It is which one speaks to their heart the loudest. However, Eagle feathers were very valuable and were a sign of high status within the Tribe. Most Cheif's Headdresses were made of Eagle feathers that they had earned throughout their whole life. Part of becoming a Man is learning the Patience of asking the Eagle for one of her/his feathers..andreafaithbutz@live.com

It has changed since then since more states regulate tattoos

Wait 12 months after a tattoo if the tattoo was applied in a state that does not regulate tattoo facilities. This requirement is related to concerns about hepatitis. Learn more about hepatitis and blood donation.

Acceptable if the tattoo was applied by a state-regulated entity using sterile needles and ink that is not reused. There are 32 states that currently regulate tattoo facilities. You should discuss your particular situation with the health historian at the time of donation.

Any paint program with vector graphics would be best for tribal tattoos. I would suggest Corel Draw or Paint Shop Pro if you aren't made of money.
References :
Any Celtic language or "futhorc", the Anglo-Saxon variant of the Runic alphabet.

But cover it up when you come to continental Europe, because here the Celtic Cross is adopted by several extreme-right and neo-nazi groups.
References :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celtic_cross

The Keltic Cross predates moder beliefs, but has been fully integrated into modern belief.

I recommend contacting a college in the UK for translation help. Have the reverse translation checked, and make sure the tattoo artist understands how to write it.

Remember this is going to be permanently on your body...
References :
Non-Abrahamic Theist.
