When I first got this tattoo (tribal shark right fore arm) 3yrs ago my boss asked me to cover it. I complied with his rule until the head of HR and the General Manger said the tattoo was not offensive and I did not need to cover it. I live in Hawaii and the majority the people that live here have tattoos. In fact there are over 20 other employees have visible ink. I feel like im getting picked on. Is there anything I can do?
Well as long as you got it straight with Human Resources you should be good. You don’t still have to cover it right?
As long as the problem has been corrected I wouldn’t worry about it.
What do I do if I am the only employee being askd to cover my art. There at least 20 other emp. w/ visible ink?

Ugh, that is such a pain!
I do not think there is anything you can legally do though. For one thing, go through the employee handbook and scour for anything related – you probably won’t find anything official. Talk to your HR person, show them the evidence that it doesn’t say they need to be covered, or if they do need to be, explain why your tattoo does not need to be covered for you to do your job without interrupting or offending others. Bring up other people’s tattoos as a last resort; this is about you, not them, and you’ll be seen as mature and educated about the situation.
Honestly it really depends where you work… Places like restaurants have a lot more right/reason to have employees cover tattoos. Working manual labor or a desk job however, tattoos are simply irrelevant and should be treated as such.
